BILL OF RIGHTS
As citizens of the state of Washington and of the United States
of America we reiterate that we have the following rights:
-
To live in a healthy environment.
-
To be able to do a healing act without requiring
governmental permission.
-
To NOT have toxins and poisons secretly placed in our
bodies.
-
To maintain the health of our bodies in whatever way we
choose.
-
To have a maximum number of consumer options in health care.
-
To have access to the type of independent health
practitioner of complementary or alternative medicine (CAM)
of our choosing.
-
To have access to any innovative and emerging modalities or
therapeutic agent used by CAM practitioners that may fall
outside any conventional allopathic standard of care
guideline.
STATEMENT OF
BELIEFS
We citizens believe and proclaim:
-
That
nature is inherently safe; and that natural health
techniques/modalities/products should not be restricted from
the public domain.
-
That
vitamin, mineral, and herbal supplements are generally
regarded as safe (GRAS).
-
That
the method of regulating vitamin, mineral, and herbal
supplements as foods rather than drugs should continue.
-
That
practitioners need to be free to develop innovations in CAM
practices.
-
That
the registration of independent practitioners does not
belong under the jurisdiction of state lawmakers because
there is no basis of harm for the state to use its police
power to mandate registration.
-
That
the State of Washington should be required to follow WA RCW
18.120.010 and prove harm before regulating independent
practitioners.
-
That
Washington State should follow constitutional requirements
to regulate in the least restrictive manner when a
fundamental right is at stake.
-
That
we need to pass a Washington “Safe Harbor Exemption Bill”,
which will allow Washington consumers to choose safe health
care.
